Hi, I'm Kama
(she/her)
Therapist. Parent. Partner. Friend. Daughter. Sister. Ex. Child of 1st-Generation Canadian. Intersectional Feminist.
Queer. Ally. Trans Adjacent.
Depression and anxiety warrior.
Re-inventor of self.
I have re-invented myself many times in my life, both personally and professionally, sometimes because I wanted to and sometimes because I had to. I know what it's like to face endings, beginnings, and all the bumps along the way.
[a meandering path]
I have a Journalism degree and worked in media and communications for 15 years because I believe in the incredible power of words and sharing stories. I then took a hard turn and earned a Health Sciences degree in Midwifery - I know, weird change. Alas, solo parenting two kids did not jive with on-call life. I started a prenatal education and postpartum care business so I could empower parents through knowledge, their inner strength, and wisdom. I also ran a social and education network for new mothers, connecting them through shared experience, building a support system, and classes to share community resources.
And now, I've blended all my diverse education and experience together and am exactly where I'm meant to be, connecting with and supporting people on their own wild ride.
I acknowledge and am committed to understanding the immense privileges that I have as a white-passing cisgender woman. I will work continuously to learn about the ways these unearned advantages have shaped who I am, and to unlearn how these privileges have conditioned me to see the world and our society.
I can't wait to work with you.
We might be a good fit if you are
-
into learning new things about yourself
-
open-minded
-
curious about other perspectives than yours
-
willing and eager to put a little something into this process
-
okay with being challenged oh-so-gently
In the space between us
-
tears and messiness are as ordinary and accepted as breathing
-
colourful language is welcome
-
nothing is TMI, for real
-
honesty goes both ways – I'm here for all of it
-
respect, always, for each other and ourselves
-
we will be accountable, to each other and ourselves

Land Acknowledgement
I live and work in Toronto, the traditional territories that include the Wendat, Anishinabek Nation, the Haudenosaunee Confederacy, the Mississaugas of the New Credit First Nations, and the Metis Nation. This territory is within the lands covered by the Dish With One Spoon Wampum Belt Covenant, a treaty between the Anishinaabe, Mississaugas and Haudenosaunee to share and care for the land around the Great Lakes. We all eat from this one dish with only one spoon. I commit to this treaty in a spirit of peace and respect. I am grateful to live and work on this land. I recognize that I am the descendant of settlers here and that I have greatly benefitted from a colonial culture that has overseen the genocide, systemic oppression, and exploitation of this land's Indigenous People.
